A couple of weeks ago I was joking that Kickbaby might learn to crawl properly before Christmas, and then the tree would be in grave danger.

I believe when mine were that age the tree went up in a corner with a couch on one side, an upholstered chair on the other and a coffee table blocking access from the front. Not too attractive and not totally effective, but it slowed them down.
